The National Arts and Crafts Conference Student Giveaway
It was the style that changed America…
In spurring a social movement for the early 20th Century, the Arts and Crafts movement embraced the idea of hand craftsmanship using native materials, including oak, clay, and copper, in contrast to the mass-produced items of the Industrial era. By 1910, the movement had swept across the nation, creating a demand for modest, affordable bungalows filled with the handcrafted oak furniture of Gustav Stickley, matte green pottery by Grueby and Rookwood, mica lighting by the Roycroft Copper Shop, and handwoven textiles decorated with cattails, gingko leaves, and purple iris blossoms. And it only grew from there into a tradition that faithfully continues today and created a new revival for homeowners who value craftsmanship.
Today, with many colleges throughout the country offering programs in craft studies and the decorative arts, the National Arts and Crafts Conference is proud to offer a free Conference Events Pass to five students in a study of the decorative arts to attend the 36th National Arts and Crafts Conference at the Grove Park Inn.
